The Association of Inspectors General (AIG) Florida Chapter Training is an eight-hour webinar program, presented virtually via WebEx, broken into two four-hour blocks. The first four-hour block will be presented on Thursday, September 5, 2024, and the second block on Friday, September 6, 2024. Both blocks will be presented from 8:30 AM ET to 12:30 PM ET. The program will include eight instructional blocks which will enhance attendees' knowledge of the presented topic, and the topic pertains to their role in the Inspector General Community, with a focus on ethics, and audit and investigative best practices. Presented topics include Contract and Grant Management Best Practices, Targeted Violence Prevention and Threat Assessment, Selling your Case to a Prosecutor, Ethics for State Government, Harnessing the Power of AI for Audit Planning and Testing, Panel Discussion on new Red and Green Book Standards, Procurement and Contracts for Inspectors/Evaluators.


Course Topics & Learning Objectives


Day 1 - Thursday, September 5, 2024

Contract and Grant Management Best Practices (1 CPE: Specialized Knowledge)

  • Understand the basics of contract and grant management and learn best practices.

Targeted Violence Prevention (1 CPE: Specialized Knowledge)

  • Understand the basics of behavioral threat assessments for the prevention of 'targeted' violence.

Selling Your Case to a Prosecutor (1 CPE: Specialized Knowledge)

  • Learn best practices to prepare a case for presentation to a prosecutor.

Ethics for State Government (1 CPE: Regulatory Ethics)

  • Understand basic ethical concepts specific to state and local government employees and state and local contracts.


Day 2 - Friday, September 6, 2024

Harnessing the Power of AI for Audit Planning & Testing (1 CPE: Specialized Knowledge)

  • Explore role of AI in audit methodologies.
  • Understand how AI can enhance audit planning processes.
  • Learn best practices for integrating AI into planning and testing workflows.
  • Leverage AI technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

IT Audit (1 CPE: Auditing (Governmental))

  • Understand concepts of the use of IT in audits.

Ethics in State Government - the Basics of Compliance (1 CPE: Regulatory Ethics)

  • Understand the concept of compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Understand the basics of breach of contract and whistle-blower allegations.

Procurement and Contracts for Inspectors/Evaluators (1 CPE: Specialized Knowledge)

  • Understand how inspectors/evaluators provide oversight in the procurement process.
  • Understand risks for fraud, waste, and abuse in the procurement process.
  • Recognize opportunities from an oversight function on OIG's mission and activities.


Instructional Delivery Method: Group Internet Based


CPE Credits: 8 Total CPE Credits: 5 Specialized Knowledge, 1 Auditing (Governmental), 2 Regulatory Ethics (Attendance and attentiveness are monitored by WebEx programming and through Conferences io codewords presented throughout the event.)
