Part I: Session Overview and Learning Objectives


IRS SAR Review Team: An overview of the Suspicious Activity Report Review Process

Attendees will learn about the work of the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation Suspicious Active Report review process. Hear from the Chicago region's SAR Review Team coordinator about the basics of what SARs are, the secrecy and dissemination restrictions, and how the team analyzes and reviews the SARs for potential leads.

  • Learning objectives: Gain an understanding of the IRS-CI SAR Review Process, the legal restrictions on the use of SARs, and how they are analyzed and reviewed for potential leads in criminal investigations.

Auditing in Flux

Does everything feel like it is falling apart? Are we ever going to get "back to normal"? Based on lessons learned during the pandemic, this session will cover on how auditors can focus on their auditee/s, their office, and themselves to continue producing quality audits that acknowledge the challenges and instability we are all facing.

  • Learning objectives: Examine the role of auditors. Determine what changes we could make to enhance impact.

CPE Credits: Attendees may be eligible to receive up to 2.2 CPE credits. 1 credit in Specialized Knowledge and 1.2 credits in Auditing (Governmental).
