The Association has identified six broad areas of core competency for inspectors general and their senior staff. The Association's five-day curriculum covers the following six core competency areas:

  • Context of the inspector general function
  • Ethics
  • Legal issues
  • Office management issues
  • Investigating fraud, waste, and abuse
  • Audits, inspections, and reviews
COVID-19 UPDATE (12/02/2020)– AIG Institute® (Jacksonville, FL)

The Association is working diligently to ensure that the AIG Institute® programs are conducted in manner that safeguards your individual health and safety. We are closely monitoring the situation in Jacksonville and working closely with the Hyatt Regency to ensure that precautions are taken to protect each attendee. While the situation is fluid and we will be adjusting accordingly, some of the precautions we expect for the Institute® programs may include: daily temperature checks, required face masks, socially-distanced seating and room arrangements, self-monitoring checklist and an onsite medical professional to address any concerns.

We understand that applying for and/or attending the August 2021 AIG Institute® programs in Jacksonville may be contingent on a variety of factors. And, our ability to conduct the Institutes® may also hinge on state and local health authorities. Therefore, we are encouraging everyone to apply early through the online application process.

Should state or local regulations preclude the Association from presenting the Institute® programs, applicants who have been approved and who have not yet paid will be afforded the opportunity to be rolled-over to the next Institute without needing to reapply. For those who have tendered their tuition payment, they (or their agency) will be afforded the choice of transferring that payment to the next Institute® program or having a refund issued.

Updates will be posted to the Association's website homepage.
